Am I Preppy yet?
Hey Lovelies! Welcome back to the second post of the Am I...yet? series! I'm so happy and trilled about the feedback that I have received from first post and hope for many more, I love when people comment on my posts! Also you can always create you're own preppy or edgy looks and post them on instagram using the hashtag #sarcasminheels. I would love to seed how you rock your style!
Anyway onto the post.
The term preppy comes from private, university-preparatory or prep schools that rich young students usual attend. Think of it as school chic or Old money high. There is some class and tradition that go hand and hand with this style. While when we think preppy we tend to think of it as dressing like a snob or spending a lot of money.(As if!) Neither of those things are true. You can dress preppy without breaking the bank and there is no fashion rule saying you look and act sweet.
Some pop culture examples of the preppy style are....
Gossip Girl Queen B Bair Waldorf
American's sweetheart Taylor Swift
Now that we have our inspirations, let's talk colors!

And lastly Clueless character Cher Horowitz
Now that we have our inspirations, let's talk colors!
Color Palette
- Navy
- Black
- White
- Maroon (I can hear Ron Weasly groaning in the distant)
- brown and tans
- Yellow (sparingly)
- Soft pastels (such as pink, blue, and purple)
Here are some preppy clothing to add to your wardrobe
- Skirts!!! (pencil, mini and pleaded. Get one in navy, black, plaid)
- Trench coat
- Anything with a collar
- Button up dress shirt
- Blazer
- Cardigan (boyfriend and smaller one)
- Peter Pan dresses
- boat neck shirts
- sweaters
- Dresses (omg so many dresses)
- Capri pants
- Headbands
- Mary janes
- Ballet flats
- Over the knee socks (this style is actually perfect with great legs)
- Pearls
- Ties
- Bows
- A nice satchel bag
- Plaid
- Polka dots
- Stripes
- Flowery
- Foundation
- Eyeshadow in pinks, browns, and maybe lilac
- Pink lipstick or lipsticks
- Blush
Hair
- Long hair either straight or wavy (how else are you going to wear your headband)
- And if long hair leaves you totally bugging try a Bob or a Lob (think T-Swift)
As you can see I used most of what I have listed: The hairband, the collar dress, the polka dots, pearls, and flats. So close to being Blair Waldorf!!!
Okay lovelies, you're ready to hit the halls of the Ivies or Daddy's country club, or where the preppy path takes you!
