Amazon Prime Dress Haul Review (Plus review of other pretty dresses)

Hey lovelies! In case you've been living under a rock and have no access to the horrible annoying TV and internet ads Prime Day was July 11. Prime Day is basically a day to stay connected to your phone as you try to score all the best deals before they are either sold out or the deal expired. It's kinda like a very intense QVC. Anywhoser, I had recently gotten an Amazon Student Prime subscription (Mainly to watch the Zelda Fitzgerald show) and I decided to treat myself to some things, since my recent employment and having things published professional(aka they pay me). There were so many categories that it was impossible to keep up with all of them, so I mainly stuck with books and clothes category(my true passions in life) I ended up getting only clothing stuff because all the book sets I wanted was sold out like that. They lead me to the question of "Are the dresses on Amazon really that good?" Buying dresses online, as many of you have probably experience can be quite the minefield. Sometimes the sizes could be way off, the fabric could be weird and cheap and some places might not fit as well as other places. So I decided to make a review of all the dresses I got during Prime Day, plus a dress I purchased on LindyBop during their sale (I was on a spending spree that weekend tbh) and a dress from the Hot Topic's Hot Mess Sale.
A few basics before we begin: How the reviews are going to go is that I'm going to give you some basic info about how much each dress cost before and after the sale. How it looked online verse how it looks IRL plus my feelings about the dress and my ranting out of five. I'm also going to give you the sizes of each dress I bought to kind of give you an estimate of what you should order. My measurements are: 32-22-32 which is just bust-waist-hips. Make sure you measure yourself before you buy ANYTHING online.
Okay, let's get started! I'll be reviewing dresses by which ones I bought first.

  1. Zaful Women's Vintage 50's Style Polka Dot Party Cocktail Rockabilly Swing Dress

What it's priced for now: $19.99 (Amazon Prime means no shipping on 2-day orders)
What I paid for it $15.99
Size: Small
Rating:3/5

This was actually my least favorite dress out of all of them, mainly because it had been on my Amazon WishList for the longest time and I had such high hopes for it.  As you can see from the picture on the top left-hand corner, the dress is adorable, kind a Doctor Who Tardis vibe. Plus I love rocking a lot of polka-dots. However, when I got it out of the bag (yeah the dress comes in a zip-lock bag) I was slightly less than excited. Online it said the dress was a cotton poly blend so I was like "Okay so I sturdy cotton." This dress feels ROUGH. Like it's cotton shady cousin. It does not feel soft at all, it kinda feels like a weird curtain. It's not unbearable comfortable, I can wear it for a long period of time but it was a little off putting. Another drawback is that it will be constantly wrinkled. The first thing I did after I opened it was put it in the washer to get rid of the "new dress stank" (also always make sure you read the washing instruction on dresses. Super important). It was wrinkled when I put it in the washer and came out more wrinkled (though the button stayed intact which was my main concern) but even hanging it up to dry didn't get the wrinkles out. I had to steam it TWICE to get everything else. Then I packed it to go to a fancy Frank Sinatra show at a casino and when I pulled out the dress it was horribly wrinkled! It's a pretty high maintenance dress. As far as fit goes it fits okay, it's little loose in the front and it ones of those Rockabilly dresses where if you don't have a petticoat it will hang like a wet noodle. All and all it's a good dress for what I paid for it and I'll still wear it, but it's a lot of work for little reward.
Do I regret the purchase: no
Would I buy it again: Yes, but I wouldn't buy it in any other color
2. Anni Coco Women's Classic 1950s Vintage Hepburn Dress
How much does it cost: 19.99
How much did I pay:$15.99
Size: Small
Rating: ****

It had Audrey Hepburn in the title, I feel I had no other choice to buy this dress. Again, another thing on my wishlist that I wanted for so long and finally got. The dress is made out of the same material as the first dress, but unlike the first dress, it actually gets softer as it washes and has fewer wrinkles(though still has some pretty stubborn ones). The dress is comfortable and fits really well. The dress comes with a ribbon(seen in the picture on the bottom left) which while in the photo looks pink it's actually a Christmas red. I ended up ditching the belt (because look at it) and used one of my own belts that made it more rockabilly than before. Overall I really like the dress, I might still need to get a petticoat for it to give it that extra pop. I'll wear it often and since it's such a classic look that I can wear it with anything.
Do I regret the purchase: No
Would I buy it again: No but I'm sure I would buy it in other colors.

3. Zaful Women's 50s Vintage Floral V-Neck 3.4 Sleeve Swing Party Dresses with Belt
How much it cost: $26.99
How much I paid: $19.99
Size: Small
Rating: 5/5

I LOVE this dress!!!! Like I feel like such an adorable swan princess in this dress and that fills me with sunshine! I was actually really nervous about this dress become it came from the same company that the first come from but I didn't need to worry because this feels nothing like the first dress. It's a polyester not-itchy top half a sturdy cotton that super light weight. And the detail on the dress is just beautifully designed, I mean look at those at those swans!! It looks painted on! It washes beautifully with no wrinkles or color fading. It came with a belt, but the belt didn't fit right so I just used my own belt. I saw this dress on Buzzfeed and it's been on my wishlist for a really long time so I'm so happy I own it now! Seriously I feel so pretty in this dress! The only con I would have to say about this dress is that it doesn't have pockets and the neckline a little weird. But I highly recommend this dress to anyone and everyone!
Do I regret this purchase: No!!!
Would I buy it again: Yes and I might buy it in other colors.
4. Costyleen Women's 1950's Vintage Floral Boat Neck Sleeveless Party Swing Dress
How much does it cost: 19.99
How much did I pay for it: 10.39
Size: Medium
Rating 4.5/5

Okay so everyone needs to ignore my face in this photographs because I don't know why but my hair would just not cooperate during these shoots and this is the best I can do with what little God gave me. But OMG this dress, this dress I tell you, it's a delight! The color is so bright that none of these photos do it justice it's such a nice pretty red that I absolutely adore. The fits really comfy(the reviews recommend you size up) and it's the materials nice and light weight. The only complaint is that I don't love where the dress collar comes up on me, but myself that's just personal taste. I haven't washed it yet so IDK if the color fades yet but all and all I LOVE this dress, especially for the price.
Do I regret the purchase?: NOPE!
Would I buy more: Oh yes (I have my eye on the cherry one.)
5. LINDY BOP 'Audrey' Vintage Circus Print Black Swing dress
How much was it originally $39 plus 7 dollar ship would be $46
How much did I pay? $16 +$7 shipping is  $23
Size=Small
Rating: 10/5

Move over ModCloth there's a new pretty dress company in town and its name is LindyBop. LindyBop is a UK company (but also sells to US customers) that sells vintage dresses, skirts,  and shoes as well as other things at a more affordable price than Modcloth. Seriously there is always a sale going on! At first, I was worried about purchasing from here because I was worried that the price was too good to be true, but after seeing this dress I knew I had to have it. I mean, it's got little poodles on them and lions in top hats. LIONS IN TOP HATS. As soon as I opened it up it was love at first sight. The material is silky and soft and sturdy. The detail is beautiful. The bottom of the dress is full enough that you don't need a petticoat and the best part...IT HAS POCKETS!!!!!!!! It washes really well with no wrinkles and no need to iron. The only drawbacks are that the belt was much too long (I had to fold it over twice) and the dress smelt a little like an ex-boyfriend of mine which brought back memories, but thankfully the scent quickly washed away. LindyBop is now my go to place for dresses and I recommend it to everyone I know. They have tons of style and designs and all at a great price. I even didn't buy a Stylish Surprise dress this season because I love these dresses so much!!!
Do I regret this purchase: Never
Do I plan to buy more: Oh Yes!!!!! (my wishlist is full)
6. *Bonus* Hot Topic DC Comics Suicide Squad Harley Quinn Relationship Dress
Orginal price $32.99(plus shipping)
What I paid: $22.12 which excludes shipping
size: X-small
Rating:5/5

Okay so this dress I bought a few weeks ago but I love this dress so much I need a platform to brag on. I bought this dress during the Hot Mess sale at Hot Topic and I've actually been lusting after this dress since the Suicide Squad movie came out, so like a year? I actually really love Harley Quinn, she's probably one of my favorite villains, but I like her without the Joker which is why I was on the fence when actually purchasing this dress because it has a lot of "Harley +Pudding" and Joker faces when Harley is clearly made for Poison Ivy. But the doodles are so cute and when I found out it had pockets I knew I had to get it. This dress is SO SOFT!!! Like ridiculously soft!! And actually cotton so I'm in love. It's nice and flowy in the skirt but tight in the top which I always enjoy. I can prance around in it which is always a must with dresses. It's lightweight, all the details are cute and well made. As an ex-emo but forever fangirl, Hot Topic will always be a place for me to get one of a kind edgy fandom related stuff. Just make it's on sale. Def recommend this dress.

  1. avoid TV ads like the plague, and when I surf the internet I usually do it using "Private Browsing" with cookies and javascript disabled, thus avoiding most of the adverts - and I'm a recluse - not quite living under a rock, but the same result, namely I didn't know about Prime Day.

I just read your measurements - you're quite petite!
All of the dresses you acquired look very pretty and swingy. I'm sure they'd look extra beautiful if one was dancing in them (or just twirling).

Your swan princess dress is beautiful as is the colour of the floral print of dress number and the lion and poodle print on the LindyBop dress

I've never watched the "Suicide Squad movie". Should I? How typically chauvinistic for a male comic book character (the Joker) to horn in on the territory of a female comic book character (Poison Ivy) in the print of your Hot Mess dress!

I'm sure many of the blouses and briefs I've bought with the intent to review them on my blog were on sale, but I didn't keep track. I do notice the price and get put off if it's to high, but my primary focus is on finding the ultra-feminine styles and colours love so much - a very difficult task. I love blouses with empire waists, peplum, tiered ruffles, lace and chiffon, short puffy sleeves, and 20-22 inch lengths with frilly hems - hard to find especially when trying to find them in complementary contrasting feminine colours.

  2. Oops! Sorry for my proof-reading failures. I left out the first word "I" in the first sentence of my last comment and the dress number "4" that I love the colour of the floral print of. They are all very pretty dresses.
