Am I Edgy yet?

Hey fashion friend! Ellen here with a new blog post set called the "Am I... (blank) yet?" series where I'll give you tips and tricks on how to become a certain style whether it's preppy, boho, retro, and today's style...edgy! The edgy style request comes from my best friend Kaitlyn.

Okay so there are a ton of media examples of the edgy dress style. There's Jenny Humphery from the TV show Gossip Girl (also real life Taylor Momsen)

Singer and actress Miley Cyrus

and Singer/Actress Demi Lovato

These and other famous figures can be your guide or "fashion icon" for you to get inspiration for your own outfits.
Now lets get down to business of being on the edge. First you need to get color palette set.
Color Palette
Know the edgy style has four  main colors:

  • Black
  • White
  • Red
  • Gunmetal grey
These are the colors that you'll wear the most in this style because they're dark and go great together. You can occasional add a dark purple, but mainly it's just those four colors.

Clothing items
So here's is some items to add to your new edgy wardrobe:

  • Skinny jeans( in colors: black, grey, red, dark blue and light wash) Bonus points if they're ripped.
  • Leather Jacket (in either black, gray, red or brown). If you have the money please invest in this piece!!! I PROMISE you it will be worth it! You don't need to buy real leather, but buy a nice leather jacket because it's something that will never go out of style and a good one will last you years.
  • Band tees! The vintage the better. Bands like: Rolling Stones, Guns N Roses, The Who, AC/DC, the Beatle, The Ramones and such. Also if you buy a band tee try to listen to a few of the bands songs so you won't look like a poser.
  • Red flannel overshirt (to wear over tanks and such)
  • Tank tops and v neck tees( in color palette colors)
  • Skater skirts (in color palette colors)
  • Leather pants and/or leggings
Accessories

  • Combat boots (Bounce point if they're studded)
  • Black high heels
  • Long black boots (bounce points)
  • Layered necklaces (sliver. Bonus points if they have crosses or cameos)
  • Hoop earrings
  • Cross earrings
  • Union Jacket pattern
  • Skull rings
Makeup

  • Dark red lipstick
  • Black eye liner
  • Eye shadow colors to make the perfect smokey eye(Youtube has great makeup tutorials)
Hair

  • Long messy hair (so much volume)
  • Shag haircut
  • Fun hair color (red, purples, teals, navy, jet black) even do crazy highlight.

Follow these tips and you'll be edgy yet!

Stay tune next week when I do am I...preppy yet?
